CMIM Members Can Now Earn Continuing Medical Education Credits Using UpToDate

Waltham, Mass. – (September 11, 2013) – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that users of its clinical decision support (CDS) system, UpToDate®, can now earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) certificates accredited by the Colegio de Medicina Interna de México A.C. (CMIM) when consulting  UpToDate® to answer clinical questions. CMIM recognizes UpToDate as a provider of continuing medical education on the premise that UpToDate’s clinical content provides clinicians with important updates and knowledge to help them provide the best care for their patients.

“The volume of medical knowledge is constantly increasing, but the time to keep up with changing and evolving information is not. One of the most effective ways to stay current is by putting new clinical knowledge immediately into practice with patients,” said Denise Basow, MD, Vice President/General Manager and Editor-in-Chief, UpToDate at Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. “Partnering with the Colegio de Medicina Interna de México as a provider of continuing medical education ensures clinicians in Mexico and Latin America have a seamless and easily accessible way to earn continuing education credits while they use UpToDate to answer clinical questions at the point of care.”

Studies have shown that consulting clinical information in UpToDate helps clinicians keep up with changes in their specialty and recommended treatments.

The Colegio de Medicina Interna de México was founded nearly forty years ago and is recognized as one of the most prominent professional medical organizations in Latin America. This is the second continuing education accreditation for UpToDate in the region. UpToDate is also recognized and accredited by the Federación Mexicana de Colegios de Obstetricia y Ginecología (FEMECOG). UpToDate partners with numerous organizations, including colleges, associations, and authorities from around the world to help clinicians meet their continuing education goals.
