A memory card reader is a piece of hardware that connects a
memory card to a computer, allowing information to be transferred from
the computer to the memory card.
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. This is one of the ports available with desktop and laptop computers that allow a transfer of data through the USB port into whichever device is attached to the port.
Are a memory card and card reader necessary for installing
UpToDate on my mobile device?
Yes, an SD memory card and a memory card reader are required for
installing UpToDate on a mobile device (this is true for all mobile
devices, including those that have internal storage). While it may be
possible to install other software directly through the mobile device
cradle, UpToDate is too large and complex for this to be possible.
Instead, a memory card reader is used to install information onto the
memory card.
Why am I unable to choose a destination for my memory card
during mobile device installation?
If you see this screen, it may be caused by one of the following:
Your memory card reader may not be securely plugged into the
USB slot on your computer. Check and reinsert the plug into the USB
slot.
The memory card may not be properly inserted into the card
reader. Remove the card and reinsert it completely.
The memory card may be inserted into your mobile device rather
than the memory card reader. Remove the memory card from the mobile
device and place it into the card reader.
Why doesn't the UpToDate icon appear in the Programs
list on my Pocket PC after I install UpToDate?
If you are unable to locate the UpToDate icon on your
Pocket PC, follow the instructions below.
Note: If you are using a device that is running
Windows Mobile 6, you may skip Steps 11-15 (Mobile 6 devices do not need
to install Compact Framework 2.0, as it is already embedded in the
device).
Insert the memory card into the mobile device.
Tap on Start.
Tap on Programs.
Tap on File Explorer.
In the upper left pull-down menu, choose the My
Device option.
Tap on the storage card (might be listed as SD
card or CF card).
Tap on the 2577 folder.
Tap on the Pocket PC folder (for a Smartphone
device, open the Smartphone folder instead).
Tap on the file inside.
Confirm the installation if prompted, and choose to install
to the Device.
Tap on the drop-down menu and select the 2577
folder.
Open the Compact Framework folder.
Tap on the file inside.
Choose to install to the Device. Upon
completion, soft reset the device.

UpToDate topic on my Motorola Q Smartphone?

UpToDate topic on your Motorola Q Smartphone, you may need to upgrade
the firmware on your device. Please see your Motorola user documentation
for information about how to upgrade your firmware.
