UpToDate's mission is to help clinicians throughout the world provide the best patient care. One way we do that is by providing free UpToDate access to healthcare professionals working in resource-limited settings. Clinicians in these locations face many challenges, including limited technology infrastructure, limited funds, and unique manifestations of disease not observed in settings with greater resources.
UpToDate's collaboration with the Global Health Delivery (GHD) Project and the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM), which attempts to address these challenges, includes:
- A study to evaluate use of UpToDate in three resource-limited countries (Rwanda, Malawi and South Africa), performed in partnership with the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Results from this study will be available soon.
- Development of new content covering conditions of relevance in resource-limited settings.
- A donations program administered in partnership with GHD (for overseas sites) and SGIM (for domestic sites). To apply for a donated subscription, please click on the appropriate link below.
