UpToDate for iPhone

We have a new iPhone application to show you. This product is perfect for using UpToDate anywhere, particularly at the point of care.

For UpToDate for iPhone we’ve introduced an entirely new mobile application to help you find answers to your questions quickly. Let’s take a look. Go to the App Store from your mobile device, search “UpToDate”, and choose the UpToDate icon. On the App description page, select the “Free” button; it will change into an “Install” button. Select “Install” and follow the App Store instructions for downloading the app.

Once the App is installed on the device, run it by tapping the UpToDate icon. The App will go through the install process that will take a few minutes. Upon completion of the install process you will need to log in to the App using your UpToDate login. The new persistent login feature will keep you logged in until you purposefully logout. To initiate a search choose the search icon from the Home Screen.

Let’s search on “heart failure treatment”. Note that as you type we provide suggestions for common searches . You’ll also see suggestions based on other clinicians’ search history.

If you’d like to “bookmark” a topic, graphic, or calculator for later access, it’s easy to do. When viewing a topic, graphic, or calculator you will see the outline of a “Star” in the lower right corner. If you tap the star, it will fill in. This bookmarks the item for quick access later. UpToDate for iPhone automatically captures your history so you can quickly re-visit any topic you previously viewed. For quick access to calculators you have an icon on the home screen. You can view the calculators alphabetically or by specialty. You will be accumulating CME credits when using UpToDate for iPhone to answer your clinical questions. Your credits will display on the home screen of the app and will be updated each time the app connects to the server.

If you are a MobileComplete™ customer you have the ability to download all of UpToDate’s content to your device. To download the content select “Settings”, and then choose the “Download Content”. You will have the option to download all the text and graphics or text only. If you choose to download both text and graphics the process of downloading should take between 12 to 20 minutes. The text only download should take between 4 and 10 minutes. Once a download has started you can pause it and restart it if you need your device for other activities.
